The Team
Dr. Jakobe, DVM
Dr. Jakobe opened Valley Pet Surgery + in late 2025 to fill the need for affordable veterinary care without sacrificing quality in the East Valley. She is focused on improving the quality of life of pets and preventing avoidable diseases. She has worked at a wide variety of emergency care as well as spay and neuter clinics around the Valley for over 18 years. She has incorporated the wealth of experience and learnings from her work experience to design an efficient, high quality, affordable surgery clinic of her own to meet the East Valley need.
Dr. Jakobe graduated from The Ohio State Vet School in 2007. She originally worked in emergency clinics, but she developed a keen interest in spay and neuter surgery. That interest led her to volunteering her time to travel to several countries in Central and South America with World Vets in broadscale efforts to provide appropriate care to pets in need. Since that time, she has focused primarily on spay and neuter surgeries, performing thousands across the Valley. Additionally, she also has considerable experience in a wide variety of other surgeries for cats and dogs.
Sarah — Clinic Manager/ Veterinary technician
Sarah has been in the veterinary field for 13 years, with much of her experience focused on surgery and anesthesia. Over the years, she has worked in many roles, from veterinary assistant to Director of Operations, giving her a strong understanding of patient care from check-in and induction through recovery.
One of Sarah’s favorite parts of her work is helping pets feel safe and helping clients feel comfortable leaving their pets in our care. She takes a calm, patient approach with every patient and treats each pet with the same love and attention she would want for her own.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and their three dogs: Beast, Rubble, and Suzie — “Suzan” when she’s in trouble. She loves movie nights at home, hiking, neighborhood walks, mountain trails, and checking out weekend car shows with her family.
Laizza, Veterinary Technician
I am a Latina Arizona native and have been a proud part of the Valley Pet Surgery+ team since 2025. With four years in the veterinary field, I’ve found my passion in patient care, especially in a surgical setting. I graduated from Pima Medical Institute as a veterinary assistant and continue to grow and learn every day.
One of the things I care most about is helping pet owners feel informed and comfortable throughout their pet’s care. I’m especially passionate about improving communication in veterinary medicine. I am currently working toward becoming a certified Spanish veterinary terminology translator so I can better support and connect with our community.
Outside of the clinic, I enjoy spending time with my family and being present in those everyday moments that matter the most. I am also kept busy by my three dogs, Dashi, my goofy and lovable Pitbull mix; Kurai, my playful German Shepherd mix; and Zuko, my energetic Husky. They’re a big part of why I love what I do.
Taylor, Veterinary Technician
Taylor is a dedicated veterinary technician with over three years of hands-on experience in the field. She has been surrounded by a wide variety of animals her whole life, which sparked a lifelong passion for animal care and welfare.
Taylor gets great satisfaction from helping animals and supporting the people who care for them. She is known for her compassionate approach, strong work ethic, and ability to remain calm and attentive in fast-paced clinical environments. She takes pride in providing high-quality patient care, assisting in medical procedures, and ensuring both pets and their owners feel comfortable and supported.
