A Smart Investment in Your Dog’s Health
Dental disease is one of the most common health issues for pets. Some estimates indicate that more than 80% of dogs and 70% of cats show signs of dental disease before the age of 3. Over time, plaque hardens into tartar, leading to gum inflammation and infection. If not treated, the bacteria can enter the bloodstream and affect vital organs.
Common signs of dental disease include:
- Bad breath
- Swelling, redness, bleeding of the gums
- Tartar build-up – Yellowing or browning near the gumline indicates plaque is turning into tartar
- If your pet has difficulty eating dry food or their favorite crunchy treats
- Loose or missing teeth
Chronic inflammation associated with dental disease can compromise a pet’s immune system and may worsen existing health conditions. Maintaining your pet’s dental health help support:
- Comfortable eating and digestion
- Strong immune system
- Healthy heart and kidney
- Better quality of life for older pets
Regular dental cleanings prevent painful gum disease, infection and tooth loss. Keeping the mouth healthy also helps keep bacteria from infecting vital body organs including the heart, kidneys and liver.
